DWP Solar Initiative

THE COMMITMENT IS NOW! THIS IS AN ALERT. YOU ARE NEEDED

Thank you for the well attended and successful DWP Committee Installation meeting Saturday. We did pledge to help our fellow ratepayers and to be their advocate.

Los Angeles City Council will have a hearing Wednesday on the SOLAR INITIATIVE. The Council asked for specifics and for analysis before putting the issue on the ballot in March. You have received information on this initiative. You were made aware that an unknown amount of billions will be the price tag for which the ratepayers will be subjected. The solar energy is not the issue. What is of great concern is the lack of economic sensitivity for the community, the lack of protocol in communication and the lack of information provided the NCs. Wendy Greuel, Eric Garcetti and Jan Perry brought this hurry up initiative with help from the IBEW.

DWP will be asked about public outreach. The MOU does not apply to DWP but only to the NCs? No provision was made by the Mayor, Council or DWP to receive input before the rush to have the IBEW's wishes implemented. The outreach will be informational giving, there will not have been the 90 days for Neighborhood Councils to have their concerns known before the final decision by the City Council.

IT IS A DONE DEAL UNLESS NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS, STAKEHOLDERS, RATEPAYERS AND CONCERNED RESIDENTS DO NOT ATTEND THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ON WEDNESDAY (Los Angeles City Hall) AND FRIDAY (Van Nuys City Hall), NOVEMBER 5TH AND 7TH. YOU ARE URGED TO COME TO CITY HALL PREPARED TO SUPPORT FURTHER STUDY, GREATER OUTREACH, AND LOWERING THE COSTS TO THE COMMUNITY.

Thank you for your participation. Remember to obtain a pass from your NC president or call your Councilperson to leave your name and car information for Security at the kiosk.

Please use roqin@sbcglobal.net to respond to the following:

I have a proposal for a revenue-generating project that is managed by a solar technology-centric 501(c)3 with a mission to advance City of Los Angeles' clean air and solar energy initiatives.

Would something like this be useful in helping to lift cost for needed alternative energy programs off the back of taxpayers?
